CASSIOPEIA SHIP MANAGEMENT LLC conducts its operations in such a way to prevent harm to its employees, visitors, customers and environment affected directly or indirectly by its activities by adopting following approaches:

Safety & Environmental Protection Policy

  • To comply with the requirements of ISM Code, including all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, and to co-operate with all applicable enforcement authorities. In doing so we shall ensure safe practices ashore and in vessel operation, providing a safe and healthy working environment.
  • To control identified risks regarding safety onboard and its facilities, including managing cyber risks, through periodical review of effectiveness of the present controls and analysis of actions, focusing on the prevention of incidents and ill health, damage to property and environment.
  • To continually improve the Safety management skills of personnel ashore and afloat, including readiness for emergencies and maintaining an ethos of continual improvement.
  • To minimize the environmental impact of our activities to an accountable extent, through compliance with applicable national and international legislation, requirements and conferences.
  • To strive for client satisfaction by achieving compliance with, and clear identification of, our customer's expectations and actively monitor the results. Our response to client needs shall always be driven by an ethos of continual improvement of quality services.

Cyber Risk Management

CASSIOPEIA SHIP MANAGEMENT LLC understands that Cyber Risk Management has both safety and security aspects, and places emphasis is on managing the safety risks introduced by OT, IT and networks. The Management understands that without appropriate technical and procedural risk protection and control measures, OT is vulnerable to disruption affecting the safe operation of a ship and protection of the environment.

Our Safety and Environmental policy is regularly communicated to all employees and reviewed by the Top management for its continuing suitability and we ensure to communicate our environmental performance and progress to external stakeholders, the local community and to interested internal stakeholders as opportunities for system wide sharing of best practices.

Implementation

CASSIOPEIA SHIP MANAGEMENT LLC ensures that the policy is implemented and maintained by:

  • Providing for safe practices in our ship operation by developing and issuing Procedures, and guidelines, where found necessary, due to statutory requirements, past experience or as a result of incidents, accidents, internal audits and management reviews.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment, by recognizing training needs and ensuring only properly trained personnel are used in any particular task. Any activities that can be identified as potentially hazardous will be specially considered and procedures will be developed and additional training provided as required.
  • Providing for continuous improvement of the safety management skills of our personnel both ashore and on board our ships, by ensuring their participation in regular training exercises and reviews of the performance.
  • Ensuring proper preparedness for emergencies both safety-related and environmental, by development of procedures to recognize and deal with potentially hazardous or environmentally damaging situations, and by conducting regular exercises to ensure that all involved employees can effectively contribute in an emergency situation.
  • Ensuring compliance with mandatory rules and regulations by ensuring that our vessels are always in a regular class position, and that statutory certificates remain valid at all times.
  • Establish and insist upon safe operating practices and provide safe and healthy working conditions, including control of the use of alcohol and drugs on board managed vessels. Require and ensure that its employees comply with safety regulations at all times and take all necessary precautions to protect themselves and their fellow workers.
  • Provide the Vessel Master with all necessary authority and support to prepare and respond to emergencies.
  • Be sensitive and responsive to public concerns about marine transportation and its side effects on the environment.
  • Provide information, instruction, training and supervision that is necessary to avoid damage to the environment or property as well as to ensure the health and safety at work of employees.
  • Continuously improve the safety management skills of personnel ashore and aboard ships.
  • Prevent and reduce spills, emissions and waste as far as practicable by complying with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Comply with all applicable Statutory and Classification rules and regulations in order to ensure that the design, construction and condition of all equipment and machinery used is safe and suitable for their purpose and that it is operated by qualified personnel.
  • Apply recognized industry standards when appropriate.
  • Establish a proactive approach against risk by identifying and preparing for possible hazardous situations.
  • Fully cooperate with public authorities and others to mitigate the effects of accidents which may occur.
