Company Responsibilities

CASSIOPEIA SHIP MANAGEMENT LLC is the Technical Manager of vessels and takes full responsibility of vessels under their charge. The company is involved in manning, technical support and maintenance of the vessels.
The company is responsible for the safe operations of their ships and directly deals with the Flag State. The respective Flag state has been informed of the fact that they are the Managers of the vessel by the Flag state declaration from.
The Company responsibility structure is given in organization chart and in the detailed responsibility chart detailed in following sections.

  • Ultimate responsibility for organization rests with the Managing Director/ General Manager.
  • Ashore technical and operational matters are the direct responsibility of the Technical Manager and Operations Manager.

Manager and Operations Manager

The Master is responsible for all matters onboard the Ship.
The Managing Director vests authorities in various members of the management. This is stated in the Authority and Responsibility chart. The job description is as given in below subsections.

  • CASSIOPEIA SHIP MANAGEMENT LLC intends that all the necessary resources and shore support shall be available to ensure that the Designated Person can carry out his function. A resources request procedure for Services, Spares and Stores and the request form for Spares and Stores have been developed Procedure Purchasing: Services, Spares and Stores SMS P-10.
  • CASSIOPEIA SHIP MANAGEMENT LLC employs subcontractors to effectively control the quality of stores / spares supplied to the vessels. However the control over such subcontractors is exercised by documented procedures and evaluations are done from time to time.

Management & Security

Top Management ensures that adequate resources and shore-based support are available to support the DP in responding to the loss of critical systems including appropriate IT expertise. This resource could come from within the company but may also be provided by a third party. In providing the adequate resources, the following shall be considered:

  • Company or third party technical support should be familiar with onboard IT and OT infrastructure and systems.
  • Any internal response team or external cyber emergency response team (CERT) should be available to provide timely support to the DPA.
  • Provision of an alternative means of communication between the ship and the DPA, which should be able to function independently of all other shipboard systems, if and when the need arises.
  • Internal audits should confirm that adequate resources, including third parties when appropriate, are available to provide support in a timely manner to support the DPA.

The physical security of the ship is enhanced by compliance with the security measures addressed in the ship security plan (SSP) required by the ISPS Code. Measures should be taken to restrict access and prevent unauthorized access to critical system network infrastructure onboard.
